Lonely and Bored

It's been a long week without Muffin.

By now, I'm used to being a parent. I'm used to waking up early to ensure two people get out the door and get where they are supposed to be. I am used to finding ways to entertain youngsters so they won't get into trouble. I am used doing three or four things at once because - hell, they've got to be done. I'm used to giving baths, bandaging boo-boos, singing silly songs, making dinner, doing laundry, reading stories and snuggling.

I am not used to having so much time on my hands.

I have stayed late at work every night this week because I don't want to go home to an empty house. Hmmm, does a house with bitching kitties in a cage count as empty? Nah, don't want to deal with that either.

Right. Well, that's the end of my pity-party.

I have found something to do every evening after work - go to the library, go shopping, go to the beach. My checkbook is a little pissed off, but I'm sure he will recover. Tonight, I think I'll go get a pedicure. Any other suggestions for a lone woman in need of distraction?

Movies. I never get to see them, so you could go in my honor.

My kids vist their dad (and have for 15 years) every friday night since we only live about 10 minutes from each other. I used to work Friday nights but haven't for about 12 years now. the first few months of having Fridays off and no one home? oh lord- it was horrible...I know just how you feel. Then I slowly, started to really enjoy it. I'd eat popcorn for dinner and watch Law and Order-or go for a long run in the dark- b/c I wasn't leaving anyone alone! Or just go to a bookstore and browse with no one needing a potty break or having to sit in the kids' section. Once I spent the entire evening in the library just skimming thru interesting looking books.
It takes time, but you'll get thru :)

i know...isn't it crazy...I think what the hell did I ever do with all this time BEFORE kids.

Man. Life must have moved at a total different pace back then.

Are you sure your checkbook is a 'he'?? Perhaps she's extra pissed because you mistook her gender. Ha!

I feel your boredom. I don't like to be without kids in the house for more than one hour. I end up pacing from room to room. A little drink does help.
