Be Who You Are

Coming home tonight I had the following conversation with Muffin:

Muffin: "Did you miss me at school today?"

Me: "Of course!"

Muffin: "Could you hear me when I missed you?"

Me: "No.?.?.... You were at school, I couldn't hear you there."

Muffin: "Oh. But I thought you could hear me with your Big Bad Wolf Ears!"

Me: "Big Bad Wolf Ears? I'm not sure if I should be flattered or insulted!"

Muffin: "You should just be Mama because that's who you are."

And to that I say: "Muffin, you are wise beyond your years."

I am glad that she realizes, at such a young age, how important it is to be who you are. Don't be what you think others want you to be - be who you are. I know that I'm late to learn this lesson - but I hope Muffin will remember it. Always

She's one smart cookie! Punkin is always trying to get me to pretend to be her so that she can pretend to be the mommy.

You've done well, if she is thinking like that. This was a very cute conversation!

The trick is to help them understand that it's okay to be who you are. That it's fine to let other people be who and what they are. That you don't have to change for people - nor should you try to change others. It's hard to do. But if you can do it - your little winner will grow up to be a big winner.
